NI ROCs Consultation Response

The widely anticipated decision on the NI ROCs banding levels has been released. A consultation document was released in July 2014 on the banding levels for onshore wind, hydro and anaerobic digestion with a maximum installed capacity up to 5 MW and solar PV up to 250 kW.

The main change proposed was the cut in ROCs for PV up to 50 kW from 4 ROCs to 1.6 ROCs and from 2 ROCs on 50-250kW installations to 1.6 ROCs. However, we are pleased to report that this will not be the case. The main changes are as follows:

Solar PV

Up to 30 Sept 2015 1 Oct 2015 – 30 Sept 2016

1 Oct 2016 – 31 March 2017

Up to 50kW

3 2
Above 50kW up to 250kW 2 2

The existing ROCs banding levels for Onshore Wind, Hydro and Anaerobic Digestion up to 5MW remain in place until 31st March 2017.

It is worth noting that DETI clearly state in their response that due to the fact that the four ROCs banding for PV up to 50kW remains until 30th September, there will be no grace period.
